Questions you'll answer
Your contents policy has a £500 single-item limit. Your £1,200 laptop is stolen (excess £100). If it wasn't listed separately, roughly how much might you get?
Mo forgot to mention a past bike theft claim when buying a new policy. What could happen?
Quick facts
- Accidental damage to your laptop → What you're covered for. If listed, you're covered.
- Wear and tear → Exclusion (not covered). Things wearing out naturally is almost never covered.
- Theft following forced entry → What you're covered for. Covered — but note the 'forced entry' wording.
- Items left unattended in a public place → Exclusion (not covered). Very common exclusion.
- Loss while under the influence of alcohol (travel) → Exclusion (not covered). Plenty of travel policies exclude this. Read before the holiday.
