Quick facts

  • Order number and date of purchase → Include it. Makes it easy for them to find your order.
  • "Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, goods must be of satisfactory quality." → Include it. Naming the law shows you know your rights.
  • "YOU ARE ALL SCAMMERS AND I HOPE YOUR SHOP BURNS" → Leave it out. Feels good for 3 seconds, makes you look unreasonable forever.
  • "I'd like a full refund within 14 days." → Include it. A clear ask and a reasonable deadline.
  • A 600-word backstory about your week → Leave it out. Keep it short. Facts, not feelings (save those for the group chat).
  • Red flag: “70% off — today only!” — Too-good-to-be-true discounts plus urgency are classic fake-shop tactics.
  • Red flag: “Payment by bank transfer only.” — Refusing card payments means no chargeback or Section 75 protection. Big red flag.
  • Red flag: “All sales final, no refunds even if faulty.” — A business can't remove your legal rights for faulty goods. Saying so is misleading.
